At Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS Surabaya), Lalu is a lecturer at the Department of Geomatics Engineering and the Head of Sub-directorate of Community Engagement, Directorate of Research and Community Engagement (DRPM). His work focuses on developing remote sensing algorithms for retrieval within the parameters of the sea and inland water. He is an active member of the Indonesian Society for Remote Sensing (ISRS) and also holds the position of Director at Center for Earth, Disaster, and Climate Change in his university.
