Your guide to assigning licenses
When you've determined your organization’s best licensing deployment option, find the criteria you're looking for and follow the instructions to authorize or deauthorize users accordingly.
- ArcGIS Pro licensing options
By default, ArcGIS Pro is licensed with a Named User license that is managed through an ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise organization. If you purchase ArcGIS Pro as a stand-alone application, or as part of an application bundle, this is the only license type available.
- Converting ArcGIS Pro licenses
An ArcGIS Desktop license is either Single Use or Concurrent Use based on your preference at the point of purchase. ArcGIS Pro Named User licenses can be converted to the same license type as the corresponding ArcGIS Desktop license and authorized with that license type.
- Named User licensing
- Single Use licensing
A Single Use license authorizes one person to use ArcGIS Pro on one machine, such as a desktop computer. Because ArcGIS Pro uses the Named User license type by default, a license conversion is required before Single Use licenses can be authorized.
Follow a step-by step guide for using ArcGIS Pro Single Use licensing.
- Concurrent Use licensing
A Concurrent Use license enables multiple users to share access to ArcGIS Pro from any computer on a network or from a virtual machine. ArcGIS License Manager software installed on the network manages the distribution of a pool of shared licenses.
The number of Concurrent Use licenses in the shared pool determines the number of users who can use an application at a given time. When a user starts ArcGIS Pro, the application sends a request to ArcGIS License Manager to determine if a license is available. If a license is available, the application starts, and the number of available ArcGIS Pro licenses decreases by one. When the user exits ArcGIS Pro, the license returns to the pool.
Because ArcGIS Pro uses the Named User license type by default, a license conversion is required before Concurrent Use licenses can be authorized.
Follow a step-by step guide for using ArcGIS Pro Concurrent licensing.
